Africa Twin - DIY Raise the Front Fender
The back of the front mudguard is very close to the tyre. So I attempt to raise the guard a little,

Can’t get it up? This is my solution. Ratchet lift. In my previous vid I failed to lift the Africa Twin. This time its easy. I build a lift tool similar to this commercially available one eastbound.shop/product/motorcycle-jack-lift-a-fallen-motorcycle-eastbound-motowinch-lc2500dan/?v=796834e7a283

You are amazing Bless you Thanks for all your videos
Hi ! Awesome job! Thanks ! A question if you don’t mind - at the beginning of the video the rear coil was red and after was black … Strange, isn’t it ? Did you use the same motorcycle ? Sorry if I disturbed with something…
Ha! Good spotting. While doing the job I was also experimenting with old vs new shock.
Fantastic thanks!
Love watching your videos. Do you have a video of you first sat nav mount you show at the begining of the video? Thank you.
Sorry. I don’t have a vid of the original.
and whot about the NSU TTS 1200 Munch Mammoth????????????????????????//
Great work
Is it the GPR Furore nero Evo 4? Or is it the Euro 3 exhaust?
Sorry don’t know. I’ve have the GPR for 10 years - had it on a previous bike before the NC.
Hahaha. Funny man.
Хоть кто-то сказал про метки на мерном щупе. Спасибо😊
👏👏👏
That should help keep the tyre and mudguard clear the built up red clay...👍
UA-cam Notifications still work ;)
You da man!!! 😊
Could you share the workshop manual for NC750X? Please 😊
If you join the Facebook group “Honda NC750X Owners Group” you can download a manual from the “files” section.
Awesome video. Thank you. Chain is crucial and understanding it is the same.
One thing I do know ....When the Japanese do something ...its for a reason.
It does make sense to have the back gap smaller than the front so anything that gets into the guard can get out. It’s just that the back space is really too small for an adventure bike.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff very nice mod here. Just wondering if you would be happy to produce some the same as yours and send them to me when I eventually get an Africa Twin myself? Would be happy to pay for the work and postage.
@AoKuangLoong - thanks for the vote of confidence but I’m not comfortable doing work for anyone else. I’m just a back yard tinkerer.
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff no problem just thought I'd ask as never done any metalwork myself lol. Guess i will just have to learn myself someday
That brings to mind a term from years ago……..an elegant solution. I’m in the “mudguard” group rather than a fender. Trying to keep the Aussie terms in use mate. 🏍🇦🇺
Agree. Only did it for “views” from all those people who can’t speak proper English !
Also I am surprised that Aussies call them fenders, and not mudguards like your English brethren! (I am not saying which is right or wrong... as an American I am firmly in the fender camp).
The language is called "English" which is from England so that makes ANY "adaptation" of this language by any other nation as WRONG. .... just sayin
Agree. “Fender” is just for the US viewers who don’t speak English ! I couldn’t even maintain the “fender” reference when narrating 🤣
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff😭. I lived in the UK for a couple of years so I know my vocabulary! And yes, I have also learnt better than to disagree with those who invented our (mostly) common language!! 😬😊
My old Kawasaki Ninja had this issue. When I removed the fender to change the front tyre there was a groove worn into it down the middle where it was rubbing!
Oooo. Nasty
Common fault on Kawasaki's since the very first ZX10 (pre curser to the zzr) in 88. The H, J & L series zxr750's were the same. zx6r, zx7r and zx9r same as well.
Why spent time rising the mud guard one centimeter? Because I can and it's fun... 😁 Regards from Portugal 🙂👍🇵🇹
To be fair it raised 2cm. But yes it’s because I can.
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff 🤣🤣🤣
Well done this is the sort of modification I would make, if I could make a suggestion from my Armchair, wouldn't it have been better to countersink the stainless brackets and use countersunk bolts . Regards from England.
Yes it would have been better to countersink the bolts. I should do that. I was too slack to buy countersink bolts as I already had the cap heads.
How often should this be done. I can’t even find this in the manual.
No set time. It depends on your riding conditions. If you only ride on the road with no dust then it could probably last 40,000km.
Sorry pop's This is an Adventure Bike,,
Ha! Maybe you missed the point of this vid. Thanks for watching anyway.
Me and my father are into vintage bmw's the r50's r69s's i never ridden an r100 but I've ridden an R65 and it's a lot of fun, o can only imagine what the R100 would feel, the R65 is a lot of fun but with the extra power of the R100 it should be a blast ❤❤❤
Hard to beat the NC series bikes for ease of access amongst Japanese machines.
I had one of these in white, about 25 years ago. Had to sell it because I emigrated. Still my all time favorite bike. Unfortunately the current 850cc V7’s come nowhere near the old LeMans 3, they have non of the character.
I had a Mk V, had to sell it because I got a divorce, I regret selling it. Moral of the story, don't get married. I remember the suspension being very hard, the handling being excellent, and that motor had character.
Very good, when I change a shock I haven't to worry if I have wasted the money because the old shock will be completely done before I buy anew one!
Great work.
You rode past my old house
What a gorgeous bike, had no idea they were that quick - but I'd still rather be riding that Honda :-) But I'm very biased.
Ha! Nice to hear from you. Still have the Honda4 ?
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff yep, still have it. Still love it. I've been up to Jerry's via the old Pac a couple of times which was super nice. Took the long way home via Broke and back down the Putty Rd. Long ride, gorgeous 🙂
Just lovely!!
Thanks for posting. I reckon the Le Mans Mk3 is the best of the breed. A great, underrated sports bike from Guzzi.
Used to love guzzies until I went to buy one an 1100. The gearbox was. Terrible and the clutch was hard to pull in, I bought an bmw1100s instead . It did not have the carector of the gussy but was a good bike. Regards , tony nc Ireland.
Always liked guzzies went to buy one 1100 but was bitterly disappointed wit the gearbox and clutch my dream was shattered ,bought a bmw 1100s instead. Not as much carector but a good bike . Regards tony nc. Ireland.
Another great video 👏enjoy everything
Thanks for this review - I have always fancied one of these Guzzi's, and the Mark III with the large white rev counter would be my favourite choice. Glad to hear that it's as good to ride as it looks!
Thanks. It’s surprising how good a 42 year old bike is to ride, even by modern standards.
If it's not an adventure bike what type of bike is this?
Hmm. Maybe you missed the point of this vid 🤔. But thanks for watching
It’s great to have you back at your brilliant best! Since you deserted the NC I’ve missed your dry Aussie quips and hilarious expressions. Your analogous use of ladies funbags for engine cylinders is a new high for me.
Thanks mate. Glad someone appreciates my dopey sense of humour.
I am leaning heavily to getting myself one of these.
If the throttle was light, then something's been modified because they were always nototoriously heavy straight from the factory: something to do with the linkages on the accelerator-pump carbs, I believe. Lighter throttle mods were one of the most common aftermarket things back in the day. Another thing that was always heavy was the clutch: again, numerous aftermarket mods were available. Lastly, the gear change had a reputation for being heavy and clunky, but this was usually down to wear and incorrect setup in the linkages. My V50 Monza had a ridiculous heavy gearchange that cost me several traffic light GPs back in the day, but that was because the factory "adapted" it to have rear set foot controls by just moving the pegs a couple of inches back and lopping a couple of inches off the gear lever!
Beautiful ❤
Yes “real men” only ride liter bikes that do zero to 200 in 3.5 seconds! Love the NC750! Great bike!
Hey do have a question for you as i watched all your vids been big help...buy my bike states it has high oil pressure and wont go into gear..could you pleas help if possible.
Sorry mate. Can’t help. My NC was a manual and never had even the smallest problem with it.
I have just ordered the YSS fork upgrade kit for my 750. As you can only adjust the damping with the fork apart, what is a good starting point?
It’s a black art. Depends on your preference, weight, position of the moon … But try starting two turns in from a loose spring on the of valve. But before you do, count the turns out till the spring is loose as they are normally already set as a “standard” rate.
They don't call them Commandos for nothing! The Commando still remembered and loved. If the dealers knew how to prep them, they would have had a larger following.
